Hydrogen-powered Drone in USVI

In a first for the U.S. unmanned aerial systems (UAS) industry, Skyfire Consulting, Doosan Mobility Innovation Inc., the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI) Department of Health and other partners teamed up recently to successfully complete an open-ocean drone test flight between two islands in under two hours.

Driven by the goal of improving timely delivery medical services in the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Doosan hydrogen fuel cell-powered DS30 drone carried 40 simulation vials and health supplies for 43 miles, from a testing facility on St. Croix to a hospital on St. Thomas.

Volunteers Serve Thanksgiving Dinners from St. Mary’s School Cafeteria

Dedicated volunteers has been serving Thanksgiving dinners from the St. Mary’s Catholic School cafeteria for almost 30 years. This Thanksgiving almost 700 dinners were delivered from the cafeteria, and another 180 dinners were served to people with no place to go for a holiday meal and who showed up at the school.

The 4th Annual Crucian Coconut Festival

The 4th annual Crucian Coconut Festival took place on December 1st at the Estate Bethlehem Sugar Factory on St. Croix. The event attracted attendees of all ages.with horseback rides, a children’s crafting area, dance performances by St. Mary’s School Quadrille Dancers, Grove Place Dancers, moko jumbies and live music. The Crucian Coconut Festival was started in 2016 aimed to reigniting St. Croix’s economy with the help of coconuts according to the St Croix Source. Today, coconuts remain one of the natural products that can be used to create a wide range of products for the entire world enjoys.

Forbes names the top 10 travel destinations you should visit this upcoming winter. USVI is on the list! Here is what the publication said about St. Croix:

“The holiday season coincides with the Carnival Festival on St. Croix (which occurs later in the year for St. John and St. Thomas). The Crucian Christmas Carnival boasts musical acts, calypso shows, parades, and food fairs—the latter of which is particularly enticing, considering the island of St. Croix is establishing itself as one of the premier culinary destinations in the Caribbean.”
