The Crucian Christmas Festival (which we call carnival) is one of our favorite times of the year. Mixed with modern day celebrations and long standing traditions, the monthlong celebration offers many festivities starting on December 8 and into January 4. On December 7th, various groups decorated the Limpricht Park’s 13 trees for Christmas. The public forest came alive the tree lighting and carol singing were enjoyed by many in the community. There were strolling singers and groups on the steps of the Lutheran Church and Athalie McFarlane Petersen Library. The University of the Virgin Islands Concert Choir, Gentlemen of Jones and singers from Lord God of Sabbath Church provided the beautiful music. Read full St Croix Source article here.
Discover the beauty of the ocean, when it is lit up by illuminated boats playing their Christmas cheerful music in Historic Christiansted Harbor at the annual St. Croix Holiday Boat Parade on December 14. There is a fireworks display immediately following the parade.
This marks the 31st year of St Croix hosting athletes from around the world in the “Beauty and the Beast Triathlon.” to take place on December 8. This course is one of the longest-running triathlons on record. A gorgeous swim in Christiansted harbor transitions to a scenic yet challenging ride that takes athletes up the world-famous 15% average grade climb known as “The Beast”. The run goes east from Christiansted, through the glorious grounds of The Buccaneer Beach and Golf Resort.
On December 6 at 6:00 pm, go to “Ah Glow In The Park” to experience the First Annual Tree Lighting Festival in Limpricht Park located on King Street in Christiansted. Enjoy the downtown Christiansted evening festival activities including Carolers, Storytellers, Moko Jumbies, Masqueraders, Quelbe and Steel Pan Music, and Quadrille Dancers. Also, participate in the countdown to the lighting of the Traditional Crucian Inkberry Christmas Tree and the individual trees uniquely decorated with cultural themes by participating St. Croix businesses and groups.
